Female sport doesn't get the same opportunities or recognition that men's sport does, but there have still been many moments to shout about over the years! Here are just 3 of them:
1. In 1976, at the Olympic Games, a young Russian woman by the name of Nadia Comaneci scored the first ever 'Perfect 10' awarded in gymnastics for her incredible floor routine. Not only did she win the gold medal, she also went on the score 6 more perfect 10's in her gymnastics career!
2. In the 1988 Olympics, American sprinter Florence Griffith-Joyner left all her competition in the dust, as she not only won 3 gold medals, but also broke 2 world records, which both still stand today, making her the fastest woman of all time!
3. I cannot mention phenomenal females without these 2- the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams have been trailblazers in female tennis, not only because of their incredible athleticism and aggressive playing style, but also because of how successful they have been in both singles and doubles tournaments. Between them, they have won every title imaginable, more than once!
